E-DRUG: Traditional Medicines (8)
---------------------------------
Dr. J.O. Echeme,
In response to your Sept. 5 message, we'd like to let you know that we
have the Farmacopea Vegetal Caribea (Caribbean Plant Pharmaopeia),
which is a compilation of information on studies about plants that have
traditionally been used in the region and which we use as a reference
for educating people about the proper use of plants. This requires a
great effort on ourt part due to the resistance of many people who
won't admit that there are risks in the application of traditional
medicine.
The institution where I work is APROCSAL (Association of Salvadoran
Community Promoters). We work in El Salvador in Central America and
our goal is to educate people in the communities where we work about
the proper use of medicinal plants, as well as compiling knowledge
about traditional medicine in order to corroborate or reject certain
practices.
