E-DRUG: Triple treatment with ARVs slashed to USD175/year?

At this week's Retroviruses Conference in Chicago, NAID Director Anthony
Fauci presented data showing that in a small, but carefully tracked
study, a regimen of 7 days on/ 7 days off HAART showed:
Persistant supression of plasma viremia - no viral rebound during the 7
days without treatment (unlike other STI protocols)
No expansion of viral reservoirs
(possibly no selective pressure?)
no emergence of viral resistance
**THIS MEANS: that based on this regimen, a patient can be treated for
two years on $350, or $175/year**
The next question is: which international organization is going to step
up and start saving lives?
