E-drug: Unintended ARV treatment interruptions (cont'd)

I think a couple of caveats should be mentioned in connection with
stopping therapy with a regimen containing nevirapine.
First, because of its long half life, my understanding is that if
possible, nevirapine should be stopped some time before the
NRTIs are stopped. I'm not very clear on the period: seems that
most recommend 7-10 days.
Second, if nevirapine is restarted, it should be at the starting dose
(200mg daily for two weeks). Again, I'm not clear if this applies to
really short breaks, but I have seen a recommendation that this
should apply after a two week break.
