E-DRUG: USA Drug Pricing Comparison (cont)

E-drug: USA Drug Pricing Comparison (cont)
---------------------------------------------
Readers should know that the "Canada" prices are erroneous. Drugs are
priced provincially in Canada. Ontario, the largest province, ordinarily
has the lowest or near-lowest price. The prices for many of the drugs
listed [in the earlier message] are considerably higher that what is
listed. This list also could have been more helpful by including a) dose
and b) whether price applied to only brand name or generic substitution.
Makes me wonder about the accuracy of the other countries' prices....

[I don't know where the prices for Australia came from. The reality is
that in Australia, almost all these drugs are prescription only and
available through the national Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. Under that
scheme, patients pay (with some exceptions) $20.30 for a prescription for a
months supply or a course of medicines on the list. People with concession
cards pay $3.20. (The exceptions are too complicated to explain here).
Patients cannot buy prescription medicines without prescription. BS.
