E-drug: USA Drug Pricing Comparison (cont)
---------------------------------------------
In response to Bev's comments re: Australian medicine pricing i.e. "I don't
know where the prices for Australia came from".
The prices quoted in the original post (in US dollars) are relatively
accurate (taking into account fluctuations in exchange rates), and refer to
the actual WHOLESALE costs of the drugs per unit dose, and does NOT refer
to the cost to patient. The cost to patient will vary depending on whether
the medication is subsidised under the National Health Scheme by the
Australian Federal Government or not.
In response to Anne Holbrook.......just for curiosity, why are drugs priced
provincially in Canada? Normal market effects? e.g. cheaper in areas of
lower economic status, dearer in far off country areas due to
transportation, low turn over, etc etc???
