The position of international pharmacist coordinator is now open at
Medecins sans Frontieres, beginning in June 2003 and for a duration of two
years. (S)he will be based in the MSF international office in Brussels.

The international pharmacist coordinator will be responsible for ensuring
the quality of drugs supplied to MSF projects and coordinate a network of
pharmacists in MSF. (S)he will report to the international medical
coordinator.

Core responsibilities and tasks:
- Organize the network (specialization, methodology for decision process,
etc) and organise relevant meetings between the network members
- Coordinate standard and procedures definition for MSF prequalification
(with the help of a consultant)
- Implement those procedures to guarantee coherent quality level within MSF
sections
- Coordinate the field visits to support local purchases together with the
medical directors
- Set priorities (drugs for which new sources for international supply are
needed first).
- Evaluate the needs for regional positions, propose solutions for regional
improvements to the medical directors
- Coach/train newcomers
- Technical back up for the regional pharmacist based in Central America
- Coordinates with campaign pharmacists on relevant dossiers
- Link with other prequalification systems (UNICEF, IDA, WHO)
- Link with external consultants
- Centralise documentation (including the database).

Requirements :
- Senior pharmacist with a degree/diploma in Pharmacy
- 2 years experience with MSF or a similar organisation
- Knowlege of developing countries and emerging markets mandatory
- Experienced in quality evaluation
- Previous collaboration with pharmacists in other major organisations
(WHO, UNICEF; ICRC etc.) and pharmacists involved in pre-qualification

- Fluency in English and French mandatory
- Mature with strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Ability to work and report independently
- Willingness to travel regularly in Europe and in the field
