Title: Pharmaceuticals expert

Duty Station: Makerere University Kampala

Duration: 6 months

Starting Date: as soon as possible

Duties and Responsibilities:

i) To design and conduct theoretical and practical classes in Pharmaceutics,
for BSC final year students, in particular with regard to:
- Surface phenomenon flow of liquids and rheology.
- Dispersed systems: colloidal systems, coarse dispersion, suspensions,
semi-solids.
-Unit operations: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer,
evaporation, separation techniques and powder technology.
- Dosage form design and radiopharmaceuticals.

ii) Prepare and carry out demonstrations on the use of analytical equipment
such as spectrophotometer, HPLC etc.

iii) Review the present Bachelor of Pharmacy curriculum and develop
proposals for its upgrading to meet the needs of pharmacists in modern
Uganda health services.

Qualification and experience:

i) MSC in Pharmacy or higher additional qualification.
ii) Teaching experience in the field of Pharmaceutics.
iii) Skills in the utilisation of the above drescribed analytical equipment
iv) Ability of work effectively in English.
v) Previous work experience in developing countries would be an advantage.
