DRAFT TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR A CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGIST
The clinical pharmacologist will perform the following responsibilities
1. Finalize the development of the curriculum for training of health
workers on rational use of essential drugs, and the standard management
guidelines for PHC and Hospitals.
2. Develop and field test instruments for supervision and monitoring drug
use.
3. Finalize the development of the essential drug list of PHC for Somalia.
4. Propose to the Essential drugs working Group a basic list of Hospital
drugs.
5. Provide and clarify technical issues facing the working group.
Experience and qualifications
The individual or institution undertaking this task should have wide
experience in the development of essential drugs programs management.
The incumbent should have wide clinical experience in clinical pharmacology
and tropical medicine.
A strong academic background is necessary to advice a multi-disciplinary
group of health staff working for various organizations in Somalia.
The consultant should be prepared to travel widely in Somalia and live
under basic conditions
