E-DRUG: What are recommendations for using the WHO logo on ORS?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hi E-druggers,
During the training course on Rational Use of Medicines in Community conducted at Govt Medical College, Nagpur, India, the participants were asked to scout for ORS brands selling in Indian market containing the WHO name/logo as part of the fieldwork to learn medicine promotion.
Our findings show that the use of WHO logo/name is inconsistent and definately misused with promotional intentions.
Since WHO/UNICEF have declared the new formula for ORS, this effort to know the recommendations for WHO/UNICEF name /logo on the products containing this formula since we will be interested in sounding the warning bells to Indian manufacturers before they print their new sachets/packs so that standardization should be there in the patient interest.
Will someone help us in informing the reccomendations about use of WHO/UNICEF name logo on ORS?
Thanks
