E-drug: WHO Press Release on Good Drug Donations (cont)
---------------------------------------------
In response to the message from Ann Leroux describing PIMED, the French
organization striving to improve the quality of drug donations originating in
France: we are the alliance of relief agency-pharmaceutical firms that was
first to endorse the revised WHO Guidelines on drug donations, and we were
fortunate to be recognized in WHO's press release announcing the drive to
encourage further support for the Guidelines.
Like you, we oppose donation of samples and other inappropriate gifts, no
matter how well intended. Unfortunately, reports of such things seldom
provide details as to the product, the donor and so on. Without such
information it is difficult to know who to "educate." So your plea for
reports is important, and I would stress the need for as much specificity as
possible.
If there is anything we can do by way of assistance, please do let us know.
