E-drug: WHO Press Release on Good Drug Donations (cont)
---------------------------------------------
Hello,
I would like to introduce you to PIMED and tell you about our project for
improving the quality of drug donations from France. You are probably
aware of the project that WEMOS started in Holland. Well, we are attached
to the same European consortium that was approved by the EU, but our
campaign is just getting underway. The attached text (in French) is from
our brochure
and explains in broad strokes our action relative to drug donations. We
believe you can help our campaign by giving us concrete information about
real situations regarding recent donations from France. This information
is needed in order to trigger the press campaign that will serve as a
trigger for the information/educational aspects of the project. We hope to
apply enough pressure on government agencies to change the application of
the laws in respect to collecting and reusing recuperated drugs. We also
want for certain NGO's who continue to use these drugs for humanitarian
purposes (ex. Ordre de Malte, Terre des Hommes,...) to underwrite the
guidelines and officially change their positions in this matter.

We have scheduled a one-day seminar in april 2000 for this debate and hope
that the campaign will have effectively brought most of the NGOs to
underwrite the guidelines at that time. We propose that a member of WHO be
present at the seminar to make a presentation on behalf of the organization.

Please respond and tell us what you think you can do to help the progress
of this project.
Thank you.
