E-DRUG: WHO/WIPO/WTO study "Promoting Access to Medical Technologies and Innovation"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-Druggers,
WHO, WIPO, WTO study "Promoting Access to Medical Technologies and Innovation - Intersections between public health, intellectual property and trade“
We would like to draw your attention to a new resource on access to medicines, innovation and intellectual property. The study seeks to reinforce the understanding of the interplay between health, trade and intellectual property policies, and of how they affect innovation and access to medical technologies.
A collaborative effort by the WHO, WIPO and WTO, the study captures all aspects of the relationship between public health and intellectual property, including patents, test data protection, impact of free trade agreements, voluntary and compulsory licenses, trademarks and INNs as well as copyright and package inserts.
It also includes chapters on tariffs, taxes and mark-ups, regulatory issues and procurement.
For WHO the study is an important milestone in the context of the implementation of the Global Strategy and Plan of Action on Public Health, Innovation and Intellectual Property.
