E-DRUG: Your experience and opinions on the use of bar codes (7)
-------------------------------------------------
Dear all,
The discussion about batch- versus expiry date tracking and the one about
bar codes have merged into one, probably rightly so.
All responses so far have come from international consultants, most of whom
are optimistic about the feasibility of batch tracking and use of product
bar codes in developing countries. The discussion would not be complete
without hearing the experiences of the local warehouse managers in the
developing countries. Therefore a special invitation to them to let us know
their day to day experience in setting up and maintaining such systems.
It would for example but great to have some feedback on:
* For how long have you been running batch tracking and/or bar code
management systems?
* Are these systems used for your entire product range of just for
selected products (like ARVs)
* What has been your experience in implementing and, more importantly,
maintaining such systems?
* Have you managed to convince your suppliers to include your type of bar
codes on their products?
* Do you indeed generate and apply your own bar codes for those products
that come without?
Best regards,
Ron Wehrens
