Dutch Authorities release medicines shipment funded by UNITAID

Geneva, 17 March 2009 - UNITAID acknowledges the Dutch Authorities' efforts
which have led to the release, on 12 March, of a shipment of UNITAID funded
AIDS medicines.
The 49 Kilograms of abacavir sulfate tablets - used in the treatment of
resistant HIV/AIDS - were headed to Nigeria for a treatment programme.
UNITAID was concerned for the patients waiting for the drug, but we are now
satisfied that the treatments are on their way or have already reached their
destination.
