E-DRUG Simple, affordable prevention of vertical HIV transmission

The probably reason for the difference is that Thailand has had the good
sense to recommend that HIV-positive pregnant women not breastfeed. In
Uganda the women did breastfeed, even though the researchers could have
provided them with formula and clean water. It is likely that the differing
transmission rates were due to breastfeeding.
Parenthetically, it is also useful to note that the effectiveness of
nevaripine was demonstrated without a placebo group.
