Accuracy of religious document against condoms (11)
---------------------------------------------------
A short question: The author mentions in passing that "a man or woman
performing fellatio is at high risk [of HIV infection]." I would be
very interested in knowing the reference for this "fact," which cer-
tainly is news to me. ("...is at a theoretical risk"/ "...potential,
though very low risk"/ "...extremely rare risk, in the absence of gin-
givitis, etc." would seem to be more accurate summations of the extant
literature, limited though it is.)
Interesting that after some 17 years, oral sex continues to be one of
the most widely misunderstood and often exaggerated aspects of HIV
transmission. (And conversely, I would argue that anal intercourse
among heterosexuals continues to be one of the most neglected, truly
high risk sex acts in terms of HIV transmission.)
Sincerely,
