Accuracy of religious document against condoms (13)
---------------------------------------------------
An excellent follow-up statement from Dr. Adu-Sarkodie. I second his
concern with the obsessive focus on such "potential" HIV transmission
routes as cutting implements, razors, and the like. Although it does
seem likely that pathogens such as Hepatitis B (and perhaps HCV) may be
transmitted through such means, I have yet to see any reliable evidence
of HIV/AIDS being spread in these ways.
I know, for example, of a US researcher who recently received a large
grant to "study the potential" of HIV transmission via tattoos in
prison (rather than the obvious issue of anal intercourse among incar-
cerated men). Does anyone out there know of any documented cases where
transmission has occurred through such non-sexual/non-IVU/non-
transfusion routes?
Sincerely,
Daniel Halperin
