SUBSCRIBING TO THE AFRICAN JOURNAL OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

INTRODUCTION

The African Journal of Reproductive Health is published by The
Women's Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) a Nigerian
Non-governmental Organization based in Benin City, southern Ni-
geria. The Women's Health and Action Research Centre (WHARC) is
a registered non-profit organisation, committed to the promotion
of women's reproductive health in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in
1995, the centre's primary mission is to conduct multidiscipli-
nary and collaborative research, advocacy and training on issues
relating to the reproductive health of women. The centre pursues
its work principally through multidisciplinary groups of na-
tional and international medical and social science researchers
and advocates in reproductive health.

WHARC receives support and funding from the Ford Foundation, and
technical co-operation from the Harvard School of Public Health
in Boston, Massachusetts, USA and the Medical School, University
of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany. Apart from the Ford Founda-
tion that provides core funding, we have also received specific
programmatic funding from the World Health Organization, the
MacArthur Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Population
Council, and the United Nations Fund for Population Activities
(UNFPA).

The centre attempts to improve the knowledge of women's repro-
ductive health in Nigeria and other parts of Africa through col-
laborative research, advocacy, workshops and seminars and
through its series of publications - the African Journal of Re-
productive Health, the Women's Health Forum and occasional work-
ing papers. Over the years, several international reproductive
health advocates and researchers visited WHARC mainly to par-
ticipate in several collaborative research projects with the
centre. The list is inexhaustible- please see:
