[afro-nets] ART Training and Knowledge Hub

ART Training and Knowledge Hub
------------------------------

Dear all

Receive my warmest greetings and Best Wishes for the New Year
2006!

Thank you for keeping this discussion group alive and active. I
have just been given a new task to coordinate a project that
will train health workers in Kenya and South Sudan on ART (to
compliment what the governments in the two countries are already
doing) and also start an ART Knowledge Hub that will be sta-
tioned at the AMREF Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. We hope that
this knowledge hub will eventually be expanded to become a Re-
gional Training and Knowledge Hub. The project is funded for an
initial 2 years during which period we will train 50 health
workers in Kenya on ART administration and management and 40
other health workers from the two countries of focus i.e. (Kenya
and South Sudan) will be trained as Trainers commonly referred
to as ToTs for ART.

Am told that there is a Knowledge Hub for HIV/AIDS in Uganda;
does anyone in this discussion group have their contacts? If you
have contacts of other knowledge hubs please also share that in-
formation with me.

Also I will appreciate if you share with me any information, re-
sources, books, journals or useful links on ART that you may
know of. I am also appealing for donations of books and other
materials, publications, videos, CDs etc. on ART that can be put
in our knowledge hub for the benefit of other health workers. If
you have information on other organizations we can contact for
this please share that with us too.

Thank you. I will keep you posted on our progress.
