Centre for African Family Studies (CAFS)
Centre d'Etudes de la Famille Africaine (CEFA)

The Centre for African Family Studies (CAFS) is an African institu-
tion dedicated to strengthening the capabilities and enhancing ca-
pacities of sub-Saharan African organisations working in the area of
sexual and reproductive health services.

To achieve our mission, we conduct courses and provide research and
consultancy services from strategically located bases in East and
West Africa. Highly qualified professionals who form a multi-
disciplinary team within the sexual and reproductive health field
provide our services. Composed entirely of Africans, the CAFS team
reflects strong field experience and a profound knowledge of the Af-
rican social and cultural environment

It is our belief that the Centre is one of the leading sub-Saharan
African institutions providing reproductive health training. In line
with this, we are committed to responsibly adjusting to the various
changes constantly taking place within the region with a view to
serving the needs of all our clients. We hope to achieve this through
our goal of market orientation and self-sustainability, a position
which we hope will increase our competitive advantage over other Af-
rican management and development institutions.

We are pleased to announce our course offerings for 1998. We cor-
dially invite you to peruse this offering and select the courses that
you feel will be beneficial to you. At the same time, we take this
opportunity to solicit any update you may be able to provide us on
reproductive health training and technical assistance programmes in
your country/region of operation. We are particularly interested in
identifying unmet training needs for which we might be able to pro-
vide tailored in-country assistance.

Please feel free to pass on any information you consider pertinent to
your other collaborators in-country and in the region.

We look forward to offering you our services in the near future.

Yours sincerely,
Pape Syr Diagne PhD
Director
