We are seeking qualified candidates for the following positions:
Technical Advisor, Clinical and Community Care (Arlington, VA)
Provide technical leadership by designing and developing global-level innovative technical strategies and tools in HIV/AIDS Clinical and Community Care for the Institute of HIV/AIDS. Main responsibilities include: Oversees and helps to ensure the quality of implemented HIV/AIDS clinical and community care activities of the Care and Treatment Division; Stimulates and acts as a resource for the development of innovative and expanded responses in clinical and community care for HIV, in particular, in areas such as HIV clinical management including preventive therapies, TB (tuberculosis)/HIV relationships, care for mothers and infants, the introduction of safe and effective use of ARVs (antiretroviral treatments), and palliative care; Provides strategic development, technical inputs, and technical assistance on clinical and community care activities at all levels, including the monitoring and evaluation of such activities; Provides overall technical leadership in clinical and community care in coordination with relevant officers in regional and country offices; Participates in proposal preparation and other resource development activities; Remains informed on current programs in the HIV/AIDS field by review of current literature and is alert to any implications of such experiences and research for department activities; Performs other duties as assigned by the Director, Care and Treatment Division.
MD degree with at least seven years experience in the field of HIV/AIDS clinical care. MPH degree preferred. Strong ART background and overseas field experience required. Fluency in French or Spanish desirable.
Associate Director, China
Provides management and technical leadership to the FHI/China program operating in Yunnan and Guangxi provinces in southern China. Supervises staff based in offices in the two provinces in developing, monitoring and evaluating HIV/AIDS prevention, care, support and treatment interventions plus surveillance and strategic information work. Coordinates closely with Chinese government officials as well as donor representatives to assure that FHI's programs respond appropriately to the HIV/AIDS epidemics in the provinces. MS/MA in public health or related field, and 5-7 years experience with international development programs; or BA/BS in public health or related field, and 7-9 years experience with international development programs. Overseas field experience required. Experience in office and program management and supervising others is required.
Regional Medical Director (Africa)
The position within the Institute for Family Health will provide medical monitoring and clinical trial oversight for phase III malaria treatment trial to be conducted in 8-10 countries in Africa. This position will also provide clinical and medical oversight for a pediatrics malaria treatment trial scheduled to start up later this year and will involve supervision for the internal, Nairobi-based study team. PhD/MD or equivalent degree and 5-7 years relevant experience with international development programs; Or MS/MA in public health or related field and 7-9 years relevant experience with international development programs. Must have 3-5 years of supervisory experience. Overseas field experience required. French language skills preferred.
Regional Clinical Monitor (Africa)
The position within the Institute for Family Health will provide clinical monitoring for a designated number of sites, including site development, on-going mentoring and training for a phase III malaria treatment trial to be conducted in 8-10 countries in Africa. Duties may also include monitoring of a follow-on pediatrics trial planned to initiate towards the end of 2006 and/or other trials as assigned. MS/MA/MPH and 2-3 years relevant experience and professional level of knowledge and expertise in research methods and application; or BS/BA in public health or related field and 5-7 years relevant experience and professional level of knowledge and expertise in research methods and application. Minimum of 1 year of on-site clinical monitoring experience preferred. French language skills preferred.
