We seek qualified candidates for the position of Associate Director, Programs in Maputo, Mozambique.

The Associate Director, Programs is responsible for providing program management, planning and partnership development for FHI/Mozambique, specifically the CHASS Project in Niassa Province and overall portfolio management for the country office.

Position Responsibilities:

- Development, management, implementation and evaluation of appropriate systems, projects, services, staff and budgets.
- Development and evaluation of unit/division/departmental goals and/or objectives, proposals, reports, etc., as it relates to organization's strategic plan and priorities.
- Leads and/or participates in assessment, design team, capacity building and program start up activities.
- Contribute to resource development efforts, including participation in proposal development.
- Ensures program quality according to FHI standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

BS/BA in public health or related field, and 7 - 9 years relevant experience with international development programs; or MS/MA in public health or related field, and 5 - 7 years relevant experience with international development programs. Overseas field experience required.
Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, family planning, public health, and/or social science research. Sensitivity to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical issues in assigned areas e.g. reproductive health, family planning, HIV infection. Experience managing donor funded projects. Ability to travel within the region and/or within the project country as well as ability to travel internationally if needed. Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
