[afro-nets] GTZ-IPPF course on Young people

GTZ-IPPF course on Young people
-------------------------------
Implementing a sexual and reproductive health and rights ap-
proach

11th 23rd July 2004
Cambridge University, UK

This course is intended to benefit professionals including young
people who work hands-on in programmes and activities for ado-
lescent sexual and reproductive health, especially those in-
volved in policy making, the provision of youth friendly ser-
vices, information and education, advocacy, sexual abuse and
HIV/AIDS work and project development.

The course will give participants an opportunity to:

* Learn new techniques and methods of how to work on sexual and
  reproductive health programmes and activities
* Explore the concept and practice of a rights based approach to
  sexual and reproductive health.
* Benefit from the experiences of fellow participants on differ-
  ent aspects of SRH
* Participate in special workshops on project development, ser-
vice provision, advocacy, sexuality and HIV/AIDS.
* Visit programmes in the field

The sessions are run by experienced inter-disciplinary special-
ists from the International Planned Parenthood Federation, GTZ
and other agencies. The training methodology is primarily par-
ticipatory and includes small working group exercises, peer
learning and role plays. Participants are also encouraged to
take an active role by drawing on their experiences and sharing
field initiatives.

One of the outcomes of the course, that participants take home,
is a practical tool, a matrix, which will help them to develop
rights based programmes for young people.

A certificate of attendance is awarded at the end of each
course.

It is important to note that emphasis is placed on working to-
gether as a team and learning from each others experiences as
the diversity of the participants and the sprit with which they
work together contributes to the success and richness of the
course.

We hope that this course shall contribute positively to youth
initiatives concerning sexual and reproductive health and rights
and that it will prove to be a wonderful opportunity to learn
new things and make new friends!
