International Day Against Female Genital Mutilation (12)
--------------------------------------------------------

Dear Michael,

You are so mistaken if you think male circumcision and female genital
mutilation can be equated. For you to think there is nothing wrong
with FGM suggests to me you need to revise your female anatomy before
you start any comparison. The labia minora and majora of the female
cannot be equated to the foreskin in the male by any stretch of the
imagination.

You are right with the point on the anatomy of female genital.

The point when you are comparing female genital with male circumci-
sion is the point of having a painful, traumatizing practice on un-
consented individual i.e. children whether male or female. And you
can compare the psychological and early medical outcome of both prac-
tice when they are done in an unclean read traditional setting. Male
circumcision and female genital mutilation (there are many types) are
not identical but similar when you compare the psychological, early
outcome of the practice.
