Internet may aid Africa Colleges (8)

Dear all,

Colleagues:
I am amazed at the degree of suspicion that exists. The
technological revolution is bypassing Africa: here are efforts to
latch onto the changes: take ahold , don't grip, use the technology
for your own ends and stop being so suspicious of others.

I agree wholeheartedly with this: I really do not understand all
this negative critique, based on what? It's no use at all to break
down a positive initiative, just because there are so many other
problems: one has to start somewhere, and this could really be a
good initiative if you ask me.

Why bring up one example of the University of Khartoum: what do you
mean to say by this? There are so many other universities that
aren't involved in this particular project, but that doesn't make it
a bad one.

I would rather ask why the University of Khartoum is "not under the
reins of the western establishment": probably it doesn't want to be
in contact with the west. What is their "other voice"? Perhaps the
rich representatives of this "other voice" could come to their aid?

And Menghestab Haile (PhD) says: "...But will this [project] help to
resolve the main problems the universities are facing?"

Of course one good initiative won't solve the main problems, but it
can surely help. It helps more than just being cynical!

And talking about salaries...... sorry, but if you only spend money
on salaries, and not on technological innovations, you're never
going to move ahead. I worked at a Latin American University, and
the fact that the WHOLE budget went to salaries, was the main
problem of that university: they would have been very glad to
receive this kind of support.

In my words:
"Sorry to be so negative but the CRITIQUE on the report/project
really got to me...."
