[afro-nets] Isaac's Story in Ghana

http://www.uniteforsight.org/

Dear Friend of Unite For Sight,

Our partner doctors recently had the honor of meeting Isaac, a 15-year old boy who lives with his grandparents in a remote village in Ghana. Until five years ago, he lived with his parents, attended school, and played with his friends. When his three surviving grandparents lost their sight, Isaac moved at the age of ten to their village in order to become their sole caretaker. As their full-time caretaker, he is no longer able to attend school, and he also works for minimal wages in an effort to support his grandparents.

Thousands of families in Ghana have similar stories. As adults become blind from preventable and curable conditions such as cataracts, young children become their caretakers, which prevents the children from attending school. In addition to impacting the patients themselves, blindness impacts families, communities, and continues the cycle of poverty. Your year-end donation will enable Unite For Sight to provide essential sight-restoring eye care in 2014 for more patients like Isaac's grandparents.

Please make a tax-deductible end of year gift to Unite For Sight now: http://www.uniteforsight.org/give

$50 provides one patient with a sight-restoring surgery, $250 restores sight for five blind patients, and $1,000 provides care for 20 patients. Even a small amount like $20 will make a difference and directly impact a blind person and their family.

Your donation will promptly be used within one month to provide eye care to patients who are otherwise unable to access or afford care. Upon request, for those who donate at least $100 in December, we will also provide you with the personalized stories about the patients who you directly support.

Unite For Sight is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 100% of all funds donated to Unite For Sight provide eye care for patients living in poverty.
