TITLE:
Research Co-ordinator, reporting to Dr Jane Chege, Program Associate
for FRONTIERS in reproductive health project.
SALARY:
Depends on experience and qualifications (approximately ZAR 7,000 -
ZAR 8,500/month excluding benefits).
LOCATION:
Durban, KZN, South Africa
ASSIGNMENT LENGTH:
14 months, possible 12 month extension depending on funding, starting
in April 2002.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Population Council is seeking an experienced research co-ordinator
for reproductive health research projects in KZN.
RESPONSIBILTIES:
* Liase with all collaborating agencies to ensure quality and effec-
tive implementation of the study.
* Assist in design and implementation of the data collection instru-
ments.
* Recruit, train and supervise field data collectors.
* Assist in recruiting and training data capturers.
* Assist in analysing data from the study.
* Produce timely financial reports for the project.
* Actively participate in study finding at national and international
level through presentation and writing study and brief reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* University degree in social sciences or related fields (Masters
preferred).
* At least 2 years experience of reproductive health research.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in data entry and analysis
using Epi Info, SPSS or Stata.
* Demonstrated report writing skills.
* Good presentation skills.
* Proficiency with computer applications Microsoft Word, Excel and
PowerPoint.
* Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
* Excellent written and oral communication in English, Zulu will be
an added advantage.
The candidate should be hard working and self-motivated. The position
will involve communication and interaction with colleagues from a va-
riety of countries so the candidate should be able to work well with
people from a variety of backgrounds.
