Master Study Program Health and Society
---------------------------------------

International Gender Studies Berlin

Charit Universittsmedizin Berlin
Berliner Zentrum Public Health (BZPH)

CONCEPT

Public health decisions have consequences that go beyond na-
tional borders. The control of infectious diseases and chronic
impairments, the impact of poverty on health, the availability
of resources for public health and health care services are de-
terminants of health systems which must be understood in a
global context.

Women and men are affected by these determinants in different
ways. How can health systems be structured to meet the needs of
both genders and to guarantee gender equality in health, health
care and prevention? A special responsibility stands before the
rich countries of the world to further global development and
qualification needs, to initiate inter-cultural exchange, and to
promote gender equalities in health.

The Charit wants to accommodate these needs. In the study pro-
gram "Health & Society: International Gender Studies Berlin"
students will be trained to cope with these challenges and to
gender mainstream health systems.

The study program is multidisciplinary. Modules comprise: inter-
national health, epidemiology, social sciences, health promotion
