Margaret Sanger Centre International South Africa is pleased to
offer their first course for 2005:
Monitoring and Evaluation for Sexual and Reproductive Health ex-
amines the underlying principles of monitoring and evaluation
for programme managers. Participants explore the steps in estab-
lishing effective monitoring and evaluation systems and are
guided in how to integrate gender analysis into their monitoring
and evaluation plans.
The course is designed to strengthen institutional capacity to
effectively monitor programme operations and evaluate perform-
ance.
Learning Objectives:
* To encourage commitment to monitoring and evaluation in SRH
programmes
* To equip participants with the knowledge and skills to develop
sound monitoring plans for their SRH programme
* To support participants' design of a management information
system appropriate to their programme needs
* To guide participants' integration of gender analysis into
monitoring and evaluation plans
Who should attend:
This 12-day intensive course designed for project managers and
supervisory staff responsible for programme management and per-
formance.

* Evaluation Officers
* Field Managers
Personnel whose duties include the design, implementation or su-
pervision of service delivery should attend. This course is not
appropriate for junior level staff.
What participants should expect:
The course involves a minimum of 80 hours of classroom contact.
Instruction begins at 08:00 and continues thru 17:00, Monday to
Friday. Instruction is complemented by case analyses, video
presentations and field trips to SRH programmes in the area.
Every participant is expected to develop a monitoring and
evaluation plan, including related tools for MIS for his/her SRH
programme in order to qualify for a certificate of completion.
Individual guidance is provided as participants develop their
monitoring and evaluation plans. Computer workstations are pro-
vided with limited assistance for word processing, hence com-
puter literacy is highly recommended.

* Medical insurance or contingency allowance for medical care
should be secured by each participant in his or her own country
before departure.
