EVENT DETAILS:
This is a 12-day intensive course designed to strengthen your insti-
tution's capacity to effectively monitor programme operations and
evaluate its performance. The course draws heavily on the foundation
laid by the field of Family Planning and Reproductive Health during
the post-ICPD era, on how to develop service delivery systems and how
programmes and how to measure inputs, quality, access and programme
results. This course also draws on lessons from the field of HIV/AIDS
prevention, with an emphasis on sexuality and sexual behaviour change
theory in the design of effective programmes.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The course prepares participants to:
* differentiate between the main types of programme evaluation, pro-
gramme monitoring and impact assessment,
* examine the strengths and limitations of various methods for impact
assessment,
* determine the types of evaluation most appropriate to a given set-
ting,
* design a monitoring and evaluation plan outlining study design(s),
indicators, and sources of data that serve as a plan of action for
subsequent implementation.
This intensive course involves 72 hours of classroom contact.
