Paper on Health and Human Rights sought
---------------------------------------
The Network for Equity in Health in Southern Africa (Equinet) is
seeking an individual, preferably from within the region, to prepare
a paper on health rights in SADC countries for use in policy fora,
with a particular emphasis on defining ways in which the goal of eq-
uity in health can be achieved through a focus on health as a human
right.
The research work would also be required to address the following
concerns:
1. Human rights, health and the role of and social/ constitutional
movements;
2. The extent to which a human rights approach may have enhanced eq-
uity in the response to HIV/AIDS.
The paper should present the options that SADC countries have in re-
lation to both international and regional conventions and instru-
ments.
Equinet will provide a fee of up to US$ 3,000 for this work which
would need to be completed in draft form by the end of February 2000,
and in final form by May 2000.
