Programme in Healthcare Technology Management
---------------------------------------------
A new programme in Healthcare Technology Management has been launched
at the University of Cape Town, under the auspices of the MRC/WHO
Collaborating Centre for Essential Technologies in Health.
The programme has been created to promote and support cost-effective,
equitable and sustainable healthcare technology interventions which
address the needs of developing countries, and the Sub-Saharan region
in particular. The programme has the support of national, regional
and international stakeholders.
Objectives:
To build capacity in healthcare technology management, to lead as a
centre of excellence in teaching and research, and to serve as a re-
gional and international resource centre in the area of healthcare
technology management with focus on the needs of developing countries
and the Sub-Saharan Region in particular.
Guiding principle:
Sizanani Nguni (for 'reaching out - helping one another'). The pro-
gramme aims to build bridges between HTM practitioners wherever they
may be, to facilitate and support interchange of ideas and the promo-
tion of good practice, the pursuit of appropriate applied research,
the development of effective healthcare technology management tools
and the identification of appropriate and sustainable management in-
terventions.
