RFI: Government/NGO relationships in health (3)
-----------------------------------------------
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to request any information you might have regarding the
implementation of Primary Health Care programmes in Tanzania. In par-
ticular I would be most interested to in the report concerning govern-
ment/NGO relationships in health. I am a Community Health Practitioner
with experience of working with Non-governmental organisations in con-
junction with the State in East Africa.
I am currently reading for a MSc in Development Studies at the Univer-
sity of London, School of African Studies. As part of my studies I am
researching the feasibility of including exit strategies within the de-
velopment of health programmes, assisted by Non-governmental organisa-
tions in Tanzania. I intend to explore the response of local partners,
communities and donors to the transition and implementation of local
leadership initiative, over an agreed programme. The aim of this study
is to identify the possibility of sustainable solutions to the collabo-
ration of the work of organisations and the State in Tanzania and their
potential in developing indigenous organisations.
I understand you may have limited time and apologise for any inconven-
ience caused by this request. If at all appropriate however I would be
most grateful if you would forward any information you might have re-
garding any organisations you may be working with in Primary Health
Care in Tanzania and your present policy relevant to the above study.
If you require further information please do not hesitate to contact
me. I may be contacted at the address below.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Alyson Lewis
