HIV-LAW: The AIDS/HIV Legal Advocacy Discussion List
DESCRIPTION: HIV-LAW is an Internet discussion list for attorneys and
other advocates. The purpose of this list is to exchange information of
interest to persons involved in HIV client services and HIV law and
public policy advocacy.
The list subscribers generate the content of this list by posting in-
quiries, case summaries and analysis, comments, announcements, or other
items of professional interest to the other list subscribers. HIV-LAW
is NOT a newsletter from an HIV legal service organisation. It is NOT
intended for the direct provision of legal advice or services to cli-
ents.
This is a closed list. All subscribers must be approved by the main-
tainers, and only subscribers to the list can post messages to it. Ac-
cordingly, if you join this list, you will NOT receive questions on le-
gal issues or requests for services from members of the general public.
You may subscribe to either of two lists: HIV-Law or HIV-Law-Digest.
The digest (collection) of the day's messages will go out at midnight.
To subscribe to the list, send a message to:
<HIV-Law-Approval@Web-Depot.COM>
Your message should explain who you are, the nature of the legal or ad-
vocacy services you provide, your location, and whether you prefer the
digest version of the list. After your subscription request is ap-
proved, you will receive a confirmation message. The confirmation mes-
sage will explain, among other things, how to unsubscribe to the list,
should you wish to do so in the future. Both organisations and indi-
viduals may subscribe. Organisational subscribers, however, should
identify a contact person.
To send mail to folks on the list, just send mail to:
<HIV-Law@Web-Depot.COM>
If you want to post anonymously, you can send mail to:
<Anonymous-HIV-Law@Web-Depot.COM>
NOTES:
1) This is a private list, which means no one can use the "who" command
to get the email addresses of all the subscribers, and we will not re-
lease the email addresses of the subscribers.
While this offers some privacy to members of the list, remember that
not much is truly private on the Internet.
2) This is an un-moderated list. No one edits or approves the messages
before they go out to the list.
3) If you subscribe to the list and mail sent to you bounces back to
the list server, your subscription to the list may be removed. If you
think you have been removed from the list, just re-subscribe after
clearing up the problem. Don't worry about being subscribed more than
once, the software should prevent this.
4) Please do not archive the messages or network them to other groups -
- even if you have the best intentions in mind. We wish to retain ad-
ministrative control over the list, and we maintain our own archives of
the messages. Anonymous postings will only be accepted through the fa-
cility mentioned above. Individuals who meet the guidelines and want to
subscribe are welcome to do so. Organisations are encouraged to encour-
age their members to join, or to form their own lists. Please do not
subscribe as an organisation.
