Staging Posts (29)
------------------

Hi Helga:

Thanks for mentioning me in your e-mail. You have made some interesting
points to consider. I recently sent a suggestion to Theophilus Yeboah
at UNam in Namibia after visiting his site and reading his response to
the Staging Posts idea. I wonder if you might provide a brief descrip-
tion of how your facility handles its few computer terminals for ac-
cessing the internet?

Are there locations around your community that enable the general pub-
lic to access the Internet? If so, is there public awareness that some
sites offer FREE personal e-mail accounts for the general public? They
also offer FREE web pages, as well. I'm thinking that if there is an
easy way to identify what resources are now in place, it would be pos-
sible to put together a proposal for what is needed for the next very
small step, one which might simply be to create a kiosk that would be
available to the public for them to acquire their e-mail stops and to
check on what's happening in the world, without draining from other re-
sources.

Suggestion, maybe we can find one computer, locate it in one location,
and watch to see what the response is. Of course, we'll need to iden-
tify one ten year old that can teach the rest of us adults how to use
it, eh?

Thanks, Tom
