1. WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION - Geneva - Advocacy Campaign Coordinator

Title: Information Officer (Advocacy Campaign Coordinator) Grade: P.05
Official station (country): Geneva (Switzerland) Organizational Loca-
tion/Unit: Communicable Diseases (CDS) Office of the Executive Direc-
tor)

Objectives of the programme: To reduce morbidity and mortality caused
by communicable diseases and progressively eliminate diseases.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all advo-
cacy initiatives for the Cluster including: (1) assessing external op-
portunities for promoting priority communicable diseases campaigns; (2)
marketing effective policies, strategies and initiatives for priority
communicable diseases campaigns; (3) articulating and strategically po-
sitioning messages for priority communicable diseases campaigns; (4)
collaborating with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), foundations
and governments on advocacy and promotional activities for other prior-
ity communicable diseases; (5) preparing and disseminating promotional
materials and increasing the new media capacity; (6) coordinating with
WHO Regional Offices, WHO Representatives and WHO's Information Service
on advocacy opportunities concerning communicable diseases.

Annual salary (net of tax): US$ 59,963 at single rate and US$ 64,545
with primary dependants. Post Adjustment: 43.2% of the above figures.

3. THE PANOS INSTITUTE - London - Editorial Director

Panos is seeking a new Editorial Director to take responsibility for
the Institute's unique range of information outputs. The London based
Editorial Director will be responsible for all existing information
outputs, and for developing Panos' new acquisition of Gemini News Ser-
vice and its major new Internet based radio project, Interworld Radio.
The job also involves working closely with Panos' regional offices in
Addis Ababa, Kathmandu and Lusaka on their information outputs. Grade

4. UNESCO - PARIS

Title: Programme Specialist (P-4) Asia-Pacific Desk, Section for Commu-
nication Development, Communication Division, Communication Information
and Informatics Sector.

Qualifications: advanced degree (preferably in communication) or
equivalent qualifications through professional training or educational
extension programmes; at least 7 years of professional experience in
communication and familiarity with several media at national level of
which at least 2 years international experience; knowledge of computer
operations and their applications to communication tasks.

Language: Excellent knowledge of English and good knowledge of French.

5. THE BENTON FOUNDATION - Senior Associate for Digital Divide Project

The Benton Foundation seeks an individual with strong organizational
and communication skills for a project in its Communications Policy &
Practice program. The senior associate will focus on tracking and docu-
menting policy and practice issues as they relate to bridging the digi-
tal divide. The position is located in Washington DC. Available Immedi-
ately.

The focus is on "Research & Data on the Digital Divide" Responsibili-
ties include: compiling and annotating existing and new resource sites
thematically; "translate" academic and policy research to a broader au-
dience; update, organize, and research ongoing practices in bridging
the digital divide; and, organize and convene an advisory group for ag-
gregating and vetting criteria for successful practices.

6. FSPI - Regional Health Co-ordinator for the Pacific

FSPI seeks a new Regional Health Co-ordinator for the Pacific, with
overall responsibility for the design, development and management of
FSPI's regional health programmes implemented by the affiliates of the
FSPI network.

Qualifications required include the applicant having tertiary qualifi-
cations in health/social sciences; 5 years or more experience adminis-
tering health programs in a developing country setting, preferably in
the South Pacific; at least 3 years senior management experience with
leadership and interpersonal skills; analytical, and problem solving
skills; and, writing and public relations skills.

oping countries. Qualification requirements include: min. of Masters
degree in social sciences, public health or marketing; experience in
design and implementation of ops research, population based KAP sur-
veys, consumer market research, preferably in the developing world set-
ting; experience supervising field implementation and output of local
research organisations; and, experience implementing a wide range of
secondary qualitative/quantitative methods and conducting demographic
and health survey data.
