------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings from IIHMR University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India

issue of international importance through its flagship International
Courses like Promoting Rational Drug Use in Communities (PRDUC),
Pharmaceutical management in hospitals and Pharmacovigilance & drug Safety
for last 14 years. Now we would like to extend a warm invitation for
International Training Programme on Patient Medication safety and Quality
Management during May 08-10, 2017 at The IIHMR University, Jaipur, India.

*Why this training course?*

WHO reports that 10% of patients worldwide are affected due to errors in
medical care. This also estimates that in developed nation between 7.5% and
10.4% of patients in acute care settings and 13% in ambulatory settings
experience adverse drug events. Medication management process is vulnerable
to a number of 'medication misadventures or errors' ranging from
inappropriate selection, prescribing, storage, dispensing, administration
of medicines, lack of patient information.

Medication errors are quite common in healthcare institution, though there
is no supporting data. Alert health providers can intercept errors and
prevent harm reaching the patients.

Inefficient and irrational use of medicines is prevalent at all levels of
health care leading to poor availability of essential medicines, wastage of
scare resources as well as reduced medication safety in patients, a major
concern all over the world.

Many of these sources of wastage could be reduced if some simple principles
of medication management ensuring rational and appropriate uses of
medicines are followed. However, it is difficult to implement these
principles because staff from many different disciplines are involved in
different aspects of drug management as well as use and are not aware of
principles involved in both. Through this training programme the healthcare
stake holders are made aware and enable them to manage efficient and
rational use of medicine in their community.
