E-DRUG: ATC classification (cont)

E-drug: ATC classification (cont)
---------------------------------------------
As a representative of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Drug Statistics
Methodology, I would like to provide some information and give a few
comments to the ATC classification issues raised recently.

Ms Charmian Common has correctly given advice about our website with the
address : www.whocc.nmd.no
General information about the ATC/DDD methodology and order form for the
updated ATC index with DDDs and the Guidelines for ATC and DDD will be
found here. Lists of the latest ATC/DDD assignments are also included on
the webpage.

Lisa Pont has given a reference to the EPhMRA website. It is , however,
very important to emphasize that the EPhMRA classification system is
different from the WHO ATC classification system despite some similarities.
The EPhMRA classification, sometimes wrongly referred to as the ATC
classification, is used by IMS in their statistics. See further
description on our website under "Other classification systems".

If any of you have specific questions related to the ATC/DDD methodology,
please contact our Centre directly. The general e-mail address is:
whocc@nmd.no
