[e-drug] Awareness raising on drug donations

E-drug: Awareness raising on drug donations
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Education and communication are key if the quality of drug
donations is to be improved". This is a dominant message
that is declared at many meetings and in many writings about
the issue of drug donations. Now an article has been
published that gives concrete examples of good practices in
awareness raising in donor countries on this issue.

At the NGO expert seminar(*) on appropriate drug donations
(June 11 and 12, 1999, in the Netherlands) workshops on
awareness-raising and advocacy led to concrete and helpful
tools for the seminar's participants to raise more awareness
about the need for quality improvement of drug donations in
their respective communities. The moderator of these
workshops has now written an accessible article containing
examples of good practice in awareness raising on this
ethical issue. Together with general guidelines on education
and awareness raising in donor countries these good
practices have been published on the drugdonations.org site.

The article contains the following illustrative good practices:
1. Setting up a consortium
2. Developing a web site
3. Working with media
4. Working with enterprises
5. Producing an educational video
6. Publishing a brochure

In due course translations into Spanish, German and French
will be published on the site.
