[e-drug] Azithromycin, Fluconazole and Nevirapine in India? (2)

E-DRUG: Azithromycin, Fluconazole and Nevirapine in India? (2)
-------------------------------------------------------------

Indian Government, as of date, does not recognize
product patents with respect to medicines. Therefore
all the drugs mentioned are being produced in India
without any reference to original innovators. Any
Indian company can produce any of these drugs.

On January 1, 2005, India will join the "patent club"
and hence molecules patented after 1st January 1995
will be subject to exclusive marketing rights.

Molecules patented before 1st January 1995 will not be
patented and hence will be free to be produced by any
one.
