E-drug: Brazil to make cheap Aids drugs in Africa (cont'd)

Hello,
When I read things like the AU working to bring Brazilian generic drug
manufacturers to Africa I want to scream; don't you know that Africa
has its own quality generic medicines manufacturers? Why is the
African Union (AU) supporting Brazilian companies coming to Africa
when Africa has its own established GMP certified generic medicines
manufacturers that produce to BP, EU or USP Pharmacopoeial
standards. Some of these companies are already developing high
quality and affordable generic ARV's.
Why can't we believe that Africa produces quality products? Why do
we just assume we have to import solutions to Africa's problems? I
submit that the real solutions to Africa's problems already lie within
Africa. We just don't believe they are here so we don't look for them.
How does the AU bringing in Brazilian pharmaceutical companies
support the Nepad vision or the African Renaissance?
Wake up Africa. Where do you think the profits from these Brazilian
companies will go? Do we really think they will stay in Africa? Let's
support Africa by supporting quality African businesses rather than
importing them from another continent
