[e-drug] Case Studies and Films for "The Other Drug War" Course

E-DRUG: Case Studies and Films for "The Other Drug War" Course
--------------------------------------------------------------

Dear All,

I teach a graduate course called "The Other Drug War" with a public policy
and management/financing focus. The primary methodology is the teaching
case study, but I also use some films - most of them are short.

I am alwaysvlooking both for other case studies and other films if E-druggers have any ideas or materials.

Also, as a matter of interest, I recently purchased the educational version of "Side Effects," which is a perfectly dreadful American movie (designed to appeal to a popular audience) with a very good point to make about detailers. Although the movie is not something I would use, the companion documentary film, "Money talks: profits before patient safety," may be okay. I have yet to review that.

regards

Maggie

Hello Maggie

In Canada, the CBC's Nature of Things did a very useful 45 minute
documentary on the problem of adverse drug effects, exemplified by
cisapride. It would be a useful teaching tool. I think it was done
around 2001.
