E-drug: Consulting opportunities

Consultants for Health and Development (CHD) is an international
consulting group, specializing in public health and development. CHD
has its central office in Leiden, The Netherlands, from where activities
are coordinated and backstopping to CHD consultants is provided.
Through the years CHD has offered quality consultancy services to
governments, non-governmental organizations, bilateral and
international organizations, and financing agencies such as the
Development Banks and the European Union. CHD has a noteworthy
track record in providing support to essential drug programmes and
activities in developing countries. Requests have typically been in the
fields of:
- assistance in formulating National Drug Policies and related
implementation plans;
- drug regulation and registration;
- selecting essential drugs;
- quantifying drug needs;
- procurement and tendering procedures;
- quality control;
- storage and distribution of drugs;
- developing standard treatment guidelines;
- improving rational use of drugs;
- monitoring and evaluation of programme activities;
- backstopping, training and consultancy support;
- expert analyses of requests to bilateral and multilateral donors;
- etc.
CHD is also increasingly being asked for support in other public health
related activities (PHC, reproductive health, disease specific
programmes, health sector development programmes, etc).
To handle a growing number of requests from various donor agencies,
CHD is looking to amplify its database of experienced professionals,
who may be approached in the future to work with CHD in short- or
long-term assignments. We would like to know professionals with
essential drugs related experience, as well as those with experience in
other areas of public health in developing countries.
