Contract: long term (3 years, starting early 1996)
Country: Yemen
Based: Sana'a, with some 10-20% travel time inside Yemen
Position: Expatriate Programme adviser of the Yemen Essential Drug Programme
(YEMDAP)
Donor: DGIS (Netherlands government), via Medivision/CHD contract
Direct counterparts:
Yemeni Programme Manager (employed by MOH), training adviser
(yemeni training adviser, employed by CHD), admin staff
Backstopping: by short term consultants of CHD (Hilbrand Haak, Wilbert
Bannenberg, others) and Medivision (Jaap Hamel)
Language: english (reports to donors, direct colleagues). Arab speaking is
an asset,
but could be learned in the country during first 6 months.
Profile:
- experience in managing health programmes in developing countries,
preferably in arab
countries
- experience with essential drugs or logistics project is an asset
- degree in public health, pharmacy, medicine, or manager background
- good communicator and manager, willing to work under difficult circumstances
Responsibilities:
- joint overall responsibility with Yemeni project coordinator
- coordinates all technical assistance (STCs, local consultants)
- responsible for reporting to donor (Netherlands)
- management of staff and project resources
- monitoring and evaluation
Salary: internationally competitive
