E-DRUG: Drug regulation changes in Canada

Dear E-Druggers,
The Canadian government is considering changes to the drug
approval process. Specifically, it is looking at the the
possibility of moving the Therapeutic Products Directorate
from the way it is now, a branch of the Ministry of Health
(similar to the FDA), to a special operating agency which
would resemble the Medicine Control Agency in the U.K. I
would be interested in hearing from anyone out there on
their opinions about the pros and cons of the two different
types of systems.
