E-DRUG: Estimating drug requirement at primary health centres (3)
--------------------------------------------------------
Hello Dr Gopal Dabade,
This is in relation to your query on How to calculate or estimate the drug requirement for a primary health center and also its budgetary allotment.
A good number of information is available from the WHO Action Program on Essential drugs and its website. A lot of documents have been published in this regard especially on Drug Quantification, how to calculate the drug requirement at the primary, secondary and tertiary care levels and also how to work out for arriving the cost required for the same.
Similarly information on the same can be obtained from the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation, which is an important part of the Government of Tamil Nadu State's Health and Family Welfare department, which is the sole procuring, storing and distributing agency of all the Essential Drugs required for the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary care centers in the State of Tamil Nadu, India.
The TNMSC have identified the number and items of drugs required for each level of Health care provider and it ensures the continuous supply of the drugs according to the Budgetary allocation given to each of these centers.
More information can be obtained from its website www.tnmsc.com
