E-DRUG: HAI Global announcement- The World Medicines Fact Book

Health Action International (HAI) Global is compiling a unique
encyclopaedia of the politics of medicines from the perspective of the
HAI network of NGOs, health care providers, academics, media and
individuals in more than 70 countries. The World Medicines Fact Book
(WMFB) represents a first-of-its-kind educational and informative tool
reflecting and contributing to HAI's primary mission to promote access
to essential medicines and improve the rational use of medicines through
the engagement of civil society at grass roots level. It will include
over 250 entries of alphabetically-organised expert essays of around
2000 words. It will also include definitions of key concepts associated
with the Politics of Medicines.
The Fact Book will provide a comprehensive and accessible resource for a
broad audience including HAI partners, civil society organisations and
activists, students, policy makers, and all those with an interest in
the public health outcomes of the medicines' market.
The WMFB Project will proceed in two phases: Collection and Review of the technical content
(PHASE I) and Production (PHASE II) which includes copy-editing, translation, design, print and
dissemination. PHASE I will be divided into two waves. The first wave will start in September 2009.
