Career Opportunity at HAI Europe
Due to increasing challenges in the international health arena, Health
Action International's (HAI) Regional Office for Europe is entering an
exciting period of growth. As a result, there is now opportunity for a new
senior candidate to join the existing team.
HAI Europe is seeking a:
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
(for 4 days/week)
Profile:
HAI Europe is seeking a PROJECT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER for its European office
based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The successful candidate should have
substantial fundraising experience in the NGO donor world and enjoy
developing project proposals and maintaining contact with donors. In this
position, the candidate will be responsible for broadening and maintaining
a
well-developed funding base and long-standing contact with donors. He or
she
will also have the skills necessary to manage a sophisticated budget in
cooperation with the office's coordinator.
The project development officer will also play a key role in developing HAI
Europe's strategic policy in consultation with fellow staff and members of
HAI's international network.
Although the office staff operates in English, facility with multiple
languages is a benefit for this position.
Most importantly, the successful candidate will be highly motivated, able
to
cooperate well with people from different cultures and backgrounds and want
to advance consumers' interests and involvement on pressing public health
issues.
Candidates with broad backgrounds and excellent communication skills are
encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities of the Project Development Officer:
- fundraising for major projects and developing project proposals in
cooperation with fellow staff
- reporting to funders and maintaining solid relationships with donors
- assisting in development of HAI Europe policy and strategic plans
- representing HAI Europe at international meetings, as appropriate
- overseeing the office's financial situation
The salary will reflect a senior NGO policy position.
Health Action International (HAI) is an informal, global network of some
150
consumer, health, development action and other public interest groups
involved in health and pharmaceutical issues in more than 70 countries
around the world. HAI actively promotes a more rational use of drugs. It
believes all medicines marketed should meet real medical needs, have
therapeutic advantages, be acceptably safe and offer value for money.
The Regional Office for Europe works in close collaboration with HAI's
other
coordinating offices in Asia/Pacific, Latin America and starting in 2000,
in
Africa.
