BUKO Pharma-Kampagne is a German NGO which was founded in 1981 to raise awareness on problems related to "Drugs and the Third World". Today it is one of the few organisations in Germany that has a critical look at the dark side of the drug market in the North and in the South.

Today we ask you for your help on the Anti-Diabetes medication Rosiglitazone (marketed under e.g. Avandia®, Avandamet® ...) We are making enquiries on the history of this drug.

In 2010 the Anti-diabetes medication Rosiglitazone was removed from the European market for safety reasons.

in November 2013 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that it required the removal of certain restrictions on prescribing and use of Rosiglitazone.

Rosiglitazone is not recommended by the WHO on its Model List of Essential Medicines (last update April 2013). But we found it on available National Lists of Essential Medicines (e.g. China, Ghana, Uruguay etc.) in the internet.

For documentation reasons we are especially interested in advertisements for Rosiglitazone. Moreover, information about removals from national markets, reasons for removal etc. are very much welcomed.
