E-DRUG: HIV Drugs and Compulsory Licensing

E-drug: HIV Drugs and Compulsory Licensing
----------------------------------------------------------

At the AIDS and Essential Medicines and Compulsory Licensing Meeting that
took place on Geneva, March 26-27, 1999, around 135 participants discussed:

- the nature of access problems for essential drugs and medical
technologies, particularly in developing countries
related international laws and compulsory licensing
- practical issues relating to compulsory licensing of HIV-related drugs in
developing countries

Over the coming days and weeks the presentations from this meeting will be
disseminated through the Treatment Access Discussion Forum. The participants
in the Geneva meeting have also joined the forum, and it is hoped this will
provide an opportunity for many of the ideas and information surrounding
HIV/AIDS drugs and the compulsory licensing issue to be shared among all
forum members.

If you would like to join this discussion, send an email to:

with the word join in the subject line.
